Edmund H. Choi, MD

Fellowship Trained Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon

Dr. Edmund Choi is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon who is continually active in orthopaedic and spinal research. He has authored over 20 publications and abstract and lectured at national and regional meetings on the topics of comprehensive spinal care, osteoporosis, pediatric and adult spine reconstruction, bone and spinal tumors and fractures. He is on the editorial board of Orthopedics Journal; his focus being spine research and orthopaedic trauma research.

A graduate of the University of California at San Diego at La Jolla, California, he earned his medical degree at Tufts School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. A native of San Marino, California, he was involved in MRI research and Cobalt drug and antiviral research at the Caltech Beckman Institute. Dr. Choi completed his surgical internship at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York New York and his orthopaedic residency at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York and New York Presbytarian at Lower Manhattan Campus in New York, New York, with a pediatric orthopedic rotation at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Choi completed an additional fellowship in both orthopaedic spine surgery and neurosurgical spine surgery at San Diego Center for Spinal Disorders/Scripps Clinic in San Diego.

With extensive training in the latest surgical and nonsurgical methods and techniques, Dr. Choi’s goal is to assure his patients get the most effective treatment for their spine ailment. Dr. Choi uses evidence-based treatment plans tailored to the patient’s individual needs to help them back to what they love to do.

Dr. Choi is a committee member of the Scoliosis Research Society, as well as an active member of the Safety and Value SRS Spine Committee. Dr. Choi is also an active member of the editorial board for the ORTHOPEDICS journal.
