The Woodlands, Texas – [August 19, 2025] – Sterling Ridge Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine (SRSOM) is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Rohan Gheewala, a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery, to its esteemed team of physicians. Dr. Gheewala will begin seeing patients on October 6, 2025, at SRSOM’s Woodforest location.
Dr. Gheewala’s clinical focus includes primary and complex total hip replacement, total and partial knee replacement, revision joint surgery, and fracture care for both upper and lower extremities. Known for his precision and compassionate approach, Dr. Gheewala is devoted to performing the highest quality surgery while building strong, trusted relationships with each of his patients.

A Long Island native, Dr. Gheewala graduated cum laude from Binghamton University before earning his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Albany Medical Center, where he trained at the busiest Level I trauma center in New York. He then completed an adult reconstruction fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston under renowned surgeon Dr. Melvyn Harrington.
His advanced surgical skills include calipered, kinematically aligned total knee arthroplasty and direct anterior total hip arthroplasty, which are designed to promote faster recovery and more natural joint function. During fellowship, he also participated in a medical mission trip to Antigua, Guatemala with Faith in Practice.
Dr. Gheewala is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and has authored several articles in prestigious peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma and The Journal of Arthroplasty.
He comes from a family of physicians—his father is a plastic surgeon—and shares a strong dedication to the art and science of medicine. He is married to his wife Nicole, also a physician, and enjoys spending time with family and exploring his passion for German and Japanese performance cars.
