James Lin, MD
Dr. James Lin is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in treating injuries and conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. He is excited to serve the communities close to his family around The Woodlands and Spring areas. He strongly believes in a patient centered approach and creating a treatment plan with the patient to help them achieve their individual goals.
Dr. Lin earned his Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering from Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Maryland and completed both medical school and orthopaedic surgery residency at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He then received additional subspecialty training through a hand and upper extremity surgery fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. During this time, he has had the privilege to provide care to a wide variety of patients from professional athletes to those who have sustained devastating traumatic injuries.
His areas of interest include treating arthritis, fractures, nerve and tendon injuries, and spasticity. He also performs joint replacements and minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery of the upper extremity. He is passionate about medical education and staying up to date in evidence-based care. He has authored over 50 papers, given more than 30 presentations at national and international conferences, and written 9 book chapters. He participates in the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Association for Hand Surgery, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
In his free time, Dr. Lin spends time with his wife who is currently expecting to grow their family. He also enjoys lifting weights, running, cooking, smoking meats, and playing golf poorly.
